Fall River man sentenced for grooming, child rape

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — A 22-year-old Fall River man was sentenced to state prison for grooming and child rape, prosecutors said Monday.

The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office said Emmanuel Adeniyi pled guilty in Fall River Superior Court to six counts of rape of a child and one count of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 on Nov. 8.

Adeniyi will serve 10 to 15 years in prison. Additionally, he will be placed on supervised probation for five years.

“The defendant repeatedly had sex with underage girls and enticed them by misrepresenting his age. Unfortunately the court did not revoke his bail after being arrested for committing the same crimes. The sentence is appropriate to protect young victims from the defendant,” District Attorney Thomas Quinn said.

Prosecutors said Adeniyi lied to underage girls about his age in order to molest them.

In the fall of 2020, prosecutors said he made plans with a victim, picked her up, and brought her to his apartment, where he molested and raped her.

Adeniyi was found dangerous and was held without bail in Fall River District Court, but was later released by a Superior Court judge during an appeal of the dangerousness finding.

He then committed a similar crime in April 2021, telling another victim that he was 17. He later posted bail, and committed another rape of a child in November 2021.
