Fall River mother stole Social Security benefits from her child, officials allege
FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — A Fall River woman was indicted for allegedly stealing Social Security benefits intended for her child.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said 44-year-old Nancy Taylor was arrested and was charged on Tuesday with one count of theft of public funds.
Taylor embezzled $86,994.58 in Social Security benefits intended for her child from May 2016 through May 2022, according to the indictment.
The charge of theft of public funds provides for a sentence of no greater than 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000 or twice the gross gain or loss, whichever is greater, per authorities.
