Fall River officials reach agreement with Amazon

The city of Fall River is that much closer to being home to a new Amazon facility.
Mayor Sam Sutter announced Thursday that the Tax Increment Financing Board approved the agreement between the City and Amazon.
“I am thrilled that Amazon has chosen Fall River as the site of their new flagship large package, fulfillment center. There is an urgent need for economic development in the South Coast, and this partnership with Amazon represents a great opportunity to our residents,” said Mayor Sutter.
According to Mayor Sutter, the facility will bring 500 new jobs by the fall of 2016, plus economic stimulus that comes with facility development.
The deal could near completion in the coming weeks if approved.
Amazon had been eyeing a spot in the Southcoast Life Sciences and Technology Park for its one million square foot complex.
