Fall River police arrest Springfield man on illegal firearms charges

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Fall River police arrested a Springfield, Mass. man on Wednesday on multiple firearms-related charges.
Kyron Simmons, 34, was arrested and charged with three counts of carrying a firearm without a license 3rd offense, three counts of carrying a loaded firearm in public, possession of a large capacity firearm, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number and resisting arrest.
Police responded to the Maple Gardens Housing Development Wednesday at approximately 7:44 p.m. for reports of a disturbance that was taking place outside of an apartment, according to Fall River police.
Inside an apartment, officers spoke with Simmons and noticed a silver object behind the seated subject that they believed was a weapon.
An officer took the object, which turned out to be a loaded revolver.
A bag behind Simmons was found to contain two loaded semi-automatic pistols, and Simmons was found to be ineligible to possess a firearms license and was arrested.
One of the firearms was found to have a defaced serial number and had a high-capacity magazine.
