Fall River police arrest suspect in December bar shooting

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Fall River police announced the arrest of a suspect in a city bar shooting that occurred on December 18.

33-year-old Juan Ortiz was arrested in Rockland, Mass. Wednesday morning by Fall River police detectives and faces multiple charges in the incident at Iced Out Pub on East Main Street.

Fall River police had been seeking out Ortiz in their investigation into the shooting that left three people injured.

According to the Fall River Police Department, Ortiz was found hiding in a closet in a Rockland residence during a search of the home.

Ortiz was arrested and transported to Fall River and is facing several charges:

  • Assault and battery with a firearm (three counts)
  • Carrying a firearm without a license, loaded
  • Assault and battery causing serious bodily injury (two counts)
  • Discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building

Massachusetts State Police, U.S. Marshals and Rockland Police assisted in the search of the Rockland residence.
