Fall River Police arrest two while serving warrant

FALL RIVER, R.I. (WLNE) – Two men in Fall River have been arrested one charges of drug possession, stolen firearm and stolen property.

Fall River Police executed a search warrant at a home on Ford Street Thursday, targeting 34-year-old Tony Almond on suspicion of crimes.

Detectives encountered Almond and a second subject, identified as 37-year-old James Neal while serving the warrant, who also had an active warrant out in his name.

While detaining the suspects, authorities discovered that Almond was in possession of cocaine.

During the search of the residence, detectives located a loaded Taurus PT739 .380 caliber handgun, reported as stolen in Georgia, hidden between a mattress and box spring.

Detectives also discovered an additional 14.8 grams of an unknown white powdery substance that they still have yet to identify.

Tony Almond faces the following charges:

  • Possession with intent to Distribute a Class B Drug (Subsequent Offense)
  • Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card
  • Possession of a non-large capacity firearm without a license
  • Possession of a Firearm in commission of a felony
  • Possession of a Firearm with 3 prior violent/drug crimes 
  • Receiving Stolen Properly less than $1200.00

James Neal was arrested for the outstanding warrant for the following charges:

  • Assault
  • Threat to Commit a Crime Larceny over $1200
