FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — A Fall River student was arrested after police said a knife was found in a backpack and a BB gun inside a home on Thursday.

Capt. Barden Castro said that a video surfaced of two Edmund P. Talbot Middle School students carrying in what appeared to be a knife and a gun.

Police then put a shelter in place while they searched classrooms.

Castro said a knife was found in the same student’s backpack during the search. No other weapons were found.

After the lockdown was lifted, class resumed.

A BB gun was also found inside the home of the other student, said Castro.

Police said it was the same gun seen in the video that appeared to be a real firearm.

The student was charged for carrying a dangerous weapon while on school grounds along with threat charges.

The student, however, denied making any threats toward anyone, the captain said.
