Fall River to open temporary warming shelters during cold weather advisory

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Fall River Mayor Paul Coogan announced the opening of temporary shelters for homeless residents during the cold weather advisory.

The First Baptist Church, located at 228 North Main Street, will offer overnight prayer service from 4:00 p.m. to 8 a.m. from Feb. 18 until the morning of Feb. 21.

Christ the Rock Church, located at 414 Rock Street, will be open as a warming center from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 19 and Feb. 20.

Coogan said anyone in need of shelter assistance, including transportation to a shelter, can call the 24-hour homeless hotline at 508-676-3528.

Additionally, the First Step Inn, located at 134 Durfee Street, and the Timao Center, located at the Spindle City Church at 371 Bay Street, offer shelter services in Fall River.
