Fall River woman sentenced for two shots fired incidents

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, III said a Fall River woman was sentenced for two shots fired incidents on Raymond Street in Fall River in 2024.

27-year-old Dannyshka Figueroa-Bermudez was sentenced to serve three to five years in State Prison.

According to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, the victim, who was the stepfather of Figueroa’s ex-girlfriend, woke up to the sound of gunshots on Sept. 7 and discovered that his kitchen window had been struck by gunfire three times, and his vehicle had been struck six times.

Officers responded to the residence, which was occupied by multiple families, and discovered shell casings on scene.

On Oct. 27, 2024, the victim once again heard gunshots just before dawn and saw the defendant outside his home through his window.

The victim’s vehicle had been struck by gunfire for a second time and police found spent shell casings.

Surveillance video obtained by police showed Figueroa “walking down the driveway and discharging several rounds at the building’s second floor,” with the firearm having a “laser sight” attached, Quinn’s office said.

After obtaining a search warrant, police searched Figueroa’s home and found clothing that matched the surveillance footage, as well as two firearms, which included a laser sight, and ammunition that matched the recovered shell casings from both scenes.

According to Quinn’s office, the defendant “admitted to committing the offenses” to police.

Figueroa pled guilty on Aug. 8 to nine counts of attempted assault and battery by firearm, two counts of malicious damage to a motor vehicle, and two counts of improper storage of a firearm.

This is yet another example of senseless violence that could have resulted in severe injury to the occupants of the building.  This case again highlights the importance of surveillance video in solving violent crimes especially involving firearms.  The defendant has demonstrated that she is a danger to the victim and the community and needs to be kept of the streets to protect the public,” District Attorney Quinn said.
