FALL RIVER M.A. – A building fire in Fall River displaced at least 25 people Tuesday night.
Fire crews responded to a three floor residence on Morgan Street around 5:30 p.m.
According to Fall River Fire captain, Jason Poissant, the fire started on the first floor near the back of the building and spread up toward the second and third floors. Multiple animals were unaccounted for after the fire was put out. One woman told ABC6 News crews she lost her dog to the flames.
"My dog burned alive in a fire. Everything I own is gone. Everything. It just sucks," Tiah Lanzivino said. Her five-month old baby was inside at the time the fire started.
"If this happened a few hours later while we were all sleeping, we could be dead right now," said resident Aja Eddy. "My kids could all be dead."
All displaced families were ultimately provided shelter by The Red Cross. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
