The Fall River community is mourning the loss of 18-year-old Hannah Raposo. The Durfee High School senior died in a rollover crash early Friday night.

"We’re numb. We’re all numb,” said Michael Miozza, Hannah’s grandfather.

Michael Miozza is reeling after his granddaughter Hannah Raposo was killed in a car accident on route 24 Friday night. She was on her way to Whites of Westport for senior prom.

"Going to your prom, it’s supposed to be special and she didn’t get to see it. But Hannah touched so many people’s life. She made such a positive impact,” Miozza

Hannah was 18 years old, just finishing her senior year at Durfee High School in Fall River. Her grandfather says she was smart and creative and was going to attend Bristol Community College in the fall to pursue her passion for both biology and art.

"I think no matter which way she would’ve went she would have been very successful,” Miozza said.

Hannah’s other family includes those at the Boys and Girls Club of Fall River. She was a member for more than a decade and was just recently selected as their ‘Youth of the Year.’

"This kid had enthusiasm. She just liked people, liked to be around them, and made people feel comfortable,” said Peter McCarthy, the executive director of the Boys and Girls Club of Fall River.

Club members are still in disbelief that she’s gone. Her friends created a memorial for her outside the club.

"The staff is just here to be there for them if they have any questions or anything we can do to relieve some of the pain and stress… It’s just hard,” said McCarthy.

Hannah’s grandfather says he’s thankful for the outpouring of support he and his family have received.

"I just want to tell the grandparents out there and parents please hug your grandchildren. Hug your kids,” said Miozza.

Hannah was just over a week away from her high school graduation. Durfee posted on their website that they’ll be open Sunday morning from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. so students and staff can grieve together. Counselors will be available.
