JAMESTOWN, R.I. (AP) _ Authorities say a family of four escaped when their Jamestown home went up in flames.
The fire was reported just before midnight Sunday.
Officials credited working smoke detectors for giving the family, including a 4-month-old girl, time to evacuate safely. No injuries were reported.
Jamestown fire investigators say the blaze was accidental, caused by combustible materials being placed too close to a wood stove. The home was a total loss.
The family is staying with neighbors and being assisted by the Red Cross.
