Family of Lincoln Woods drowning victim set up fundraiser to send remains home

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The family of a Providence man who drowned in a body of water at Lincoln Woods Tuesday have set up a fundraiser to send his remains home to his family.

A dive team found the body of 21-year-old Victor Deleon Mendez from Providence after an hours-long search.

Now, the victim’s aunt is asking for the public’s help on a GoFundMe page.

According to the page, Mendez came to providence from Guatemala.

His aunt now asking for help in getting Mendez home, where his family members are waiting to say their final goodbyes.
