Family of man injured in Providence home invasion raising money for medical bills

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The family of a man who was shot during a home invasion in May is raising money for his medical bills.
According to the GoFundMe, Jesse Crum Jr. was shot and injured when three masked men entered his apartment back on May 23.
His dad, Jesse, who posted the GoFundMe, wrote that the three masked men took his son and his two other roommates, plus one of the roommates girlfriend’s into one room, threatening to kill them all if they did not produce drugs, money or jewelry.
“Upon hearing this and fearful for his and his roommate’s lives in a moment of bravery, Jesse Jr. sprang into action, tackling the criminal with the gun and attempting to get the gun away from him,” he wrote.
“Shots rang out, and in the chaos, the other two roommates chose to leap out of the second story window to safety,” he said.
According to his dad, after speaking with the roommate’s, it became clear that Jesse’s actions saved their lives.
He has been admitted into Rhode Island and has been in the ICU since the incident, with many surgeries to his internal organs.
According to doctors, he is in stable condition but will take months to recover.
“As a father I am overwhelmed with pride for my sons’ bravery and thought less actions that night,” the GoFundMe said.
The funs will help Jesse recover and move back to his home state of Georgia to get himself healthy again.
As of May 23, Providence Police were still actively investigating the incident.
