NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — A Burrillville man killed in a crash in North Smithfield on Sunday is being remembered as someone who was “always laughing, smiling, and willing to help anyone who needed it.”

Police responded to a single-car crash just after 1 a.m. Sunday and found 32-year-old Jamey Scheer found unresponsive at the scene.

He was taken to Landmark Medical Center, but pronounced dead.

In a GoFundMe, his sister Lindsay Scheer wrote that Jamey left behind tons of family and friends, but most importantly his daughter.

“We are raising this money to give him the wake and funeral he deserves,” the GoFundMe states.

So far, it has raised almost $16,000.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
