LAKEVILLE, Mass. (WLNE) — A farm building was destroyed in a fire on Southworth Street Thursday night.

According to the fire department, someone who lives nearby heard a loud explosion that shook his house. It was then that he went outside and found the farm building on fire.

Nobody was hurt in the fire, according to the fire department.

Horses and other farm animals were moved so they could be safe from the fire.

Freezing conditions made it difficult for firefighters to navigate the property, Fire Chief Mike O’Brien said in a release.

Mutual aid was called from surrounding towns including Middleborough, Freetown, Raynham, and Berkley.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it is not believed to be suspicious, according to O’Brien.
