Woman killed in fatal crash in Johnston Christmas Eve

Providence,R.I. (WLNE)- A woman died Wednesday morning after sustaining injuries in a crash on Plainfield Pike in Johnston Christmas Eve.

Police say around 9:30 p.m. Lisa Marshall, 57, of Johnston was involved in a car crash at the intersection of Plainfield Pike and Peck Hill Road.

Marshal was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with life-threatening injuries. She later died from injuries early Christmas morning.

“Speed may have been a contributing factor,” said Johnston Deputy Chief Joseph Razza. There was no indication of impairment or distraction, according to the police report.

The driver and passenger of a second car involved in the accident received minor injuries.

The cause remains under investigation at this time.
