Fatal crash on I-95 South in Hopkinton

HOPKINTON – A Rhode Island man is dead after crashing his tractor trailer on I-95 south in Hopkinton.

Police say the driver swerved out of the way to avoid crashing into a black Hyundai that changed into his lane. The truck driver hit a guardrail, crossed the ramp for exit 1, and slammed into a tree head on. The driver was life-flighted to Rhode Island Hospital but later died from his injuries.

All lanes of I-95 south at Exit #1 were closed for approximately two hours following the crash.

Rhode Island State Police are currently investigating the crash and ask any witnesses to contact State Police Headquarters at (401) 444-1068.
