Fatal pedestrian accident in Pawtucket

PAWTUCKET, R.I (WLNE) – A Pawtucket resident was pronounced dead following a pedestrian-involved accident on Wednesday night. 

Pawtucket Police responded to the area of Lonsdale Avenue and Capital Street for a reported pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle at approximately 10:40 PM. 

According to the department, police located a male victim with serious injuries, and he was transported to Rhode Island Hospital. 

The operator of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation, police say. 

At approximately 3:30 AM on Thursday morning, Pawtucket Police were notified by Rhode Island Hospital that the 53-year-old victim, Julio Sanchez of Harrison St, Pawtucket, was pronounced deceased. 

Pawtucket Police Detectives and Rhode Island State Police Accident reconstruction Unity are continuing the investigation.
