Fatal shooting victim previously arrested for threatening Trump
Victim arrested in 2017 after police chase
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) – Massachusetts State Police are actively investigating a shooting that happened on Tuesday night.
Police responded to reports of a shooting in the area of Dartmouth Street at 9:51 P.M.
When police and paramedics arrived, they located a male victim, identified as 41-year-old Ausarmaat Rahotep, of New Bedford.
Rahotep was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital and succumbed to his injuries at 10:16 p.m.
Due to the ongoing investigation, no further information can be released by the Bristol County District Attorney’s office at this time.
In 2017, Rahotep was arrested after leading authorities on a chase and threatening to bomb the president in Florida.
He was 37 years old and lived in Central Falls at the time.
According to the Columbia County Sheriffs Office, Rahotep called 911 and told the operator he was “headed to Donald Trump with bombs.”
Police were able to locate Rahotep and a chase ensued.
He was charged with reckless driving, fleeing and attempting to elude, and making threats against elected officials.
