Update: Easton man charged with manslaughter following fatal crash

EASTON, MASS (WLNE) – Police have charged a 25-year-old Easton man with manslaughter following a fatal two-car crash that occured Sunday afternoon.
According to a statement from the Bristol County district attorney,Jake McCabe was arrested without incident and posted a $10,000 bail last night.
McCabe will be arraigned on the manslaughter charge June 2nd in Taunton District Court.
McCabe had already faced charges of motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation, marked lanes violation and unsafe operation of a motor vehicle. Those charges will receive a clerk’s hearing through the Taunton District Court at a later date, the district attorney said.
On Sunday, police and fire personnel were dispatched to the area of 539 Bay Road for a report of a head-on collision.
Upon arrival, police say first responders located the vehicles involved in the crash and began rendering aid to both victims.
The driver of the first vehicle was identified as 37-year-old Scott A. Lewis, of South Easton.
Lewis died at the scene of the crash, police said.
The driver of the second vehicle, a Cadillac Escalade, was transported to Boston Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.
Massachusetts State Police detectives from the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office responded to the scene and were assisted by the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Easton detectives.
The crash remains under investigation.
