Father accused of stabbing adult son in Providence

Police have arrested a man after he allegedly stabbed his adult son with a steak knife early Thursday morning.

The incident took place on Power Street a little before 4:00 a.m.

When officers arrived they say they found 56-year-old John Cronin Sr. lying on the driveway of the building bleeding from the back of his head.

Police say Cronin’s 38-year-old son was inside the apartment and to officers an argument broke out in the kitchen between the two and his father stabbed him once with a steak knife.

Police say the son then pushed Cronin into a counter which he cut his head on.

The son was taken to Rhode Hospital for treatment.

Cronin is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday morning.
