FBI, Providence police release video timeline, enhanced video in search for person of interest in Brown University shooting
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Federal Bureau of Investigation and Providence police have released additional information in the search for the person of interest in the deadly mass shooting at Brown University.
On Tuesday afternoon, the FBI released a video timeline showing the person of interest’s whereabouts before and after the shooting on Brown University’s campus.
The video, which spans over 6 minutes and includes over a dozen different angles, starts with the person of interest walking east on Manning Street and turning south on Cooke Street at 2 p.m.
Just after the shooting occurred, which the FBI said happened at 4:03 p.m., video shows the person of interest walking through Lot 42 to Hope Street.
The last video in the timeline shows the individual walking north on Hope Street at 4:07 p.m.
Providence police also released new video giving a closer look at the person of interest.
Providence police Col. Oscar Perez asks the public to take note of the man’s body movements, including the way he moves his arms.
Additionally, Perez said the person of interest was believed to have been casing the area before the shooting.
Officials continue to ask for the public’s help in identifying the person of interest, adding that video footage from Waterman Street, Hope Street, Ives Street, and Angell Street could be helpful in the search.
During Tuesday’s press conference, Attorney General Peter Neronha spoke on why there has not been video released from inside the Barus and Holley Engineering Building, where the shooting took place.
According to Neronha, the shooting happened at the back of the building, which is outdated and has less cameras than the front of the building, which is newer.
The FBI said it is offering up to $50,000 for information related to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the person of interest.
The person of interest was described as a man who is about 5’8 with a “stocky build,” according to the FBI.
The FBI said the man “should be considered armed and dangerous.”
Anyone who recognizes the person of interest, or has any information, is asked to visit the FBI’s tip line, call Providence police at 401-272-3121, or call the FBI at 1-800-CALLFBI.
