Federal judge says migrants flown to Martha’s Vineyard can sue charter flight company
BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) — A federal judge in Boston ruled Monday that migrants flown to Martha’s Vineyard by Florida governor Ron Desantis nearly two years ago can now sue the charter flight company that transported them.
According to the ruling, 50 migrants can proceed with their suit against Florida-based Vertol Systems company, which had agreed to fly them to the island for hundreds of thousands of dollars.
An email to the company seeking comment was not immediately returned.
Also named in the suit is Desantis, but the U.S. district court of Massachusetts said in its ruling that it does not have jurisdiction over Desantis in this case.
