Federal loans available for Rhode Islanders affected by winter flooding

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Small Business Administration and other agencies are available to help Rhode Islanders apply for federal disaster assistance loans.

The loans are available to residents and businesses impacted by the flooding in December and January.

The Small Business Administration will be joined by members of the Office of Disaster Recovery and Resilience and the Connecticut district offices.

All of the agencies are available Tuesday to help New England residents learn about SBA recovery resources and low-interest federal disaster loans.

The virtual meeting is available to all residents who qualify and the counties include Providence, Kent, Washington and Newport.

Some Massachusetts and Connecticut residents also qualify and can join today’s meeting.

The virtual meeting is from one to two this afternoon.

Registration is required and it’s free to participate.

Applications for loans for physical damage are due in less than a month on May 20th.

Economic injury loans are due on December 23.

The disaster loans are available due to the flooding that occurred December 17th through the 19th of last year and January 9 through 13 of this year.
