ATTLEBORO, Mass. — A FedEx driver from North Providence helped rescue a person trapped after a car crash on 95 North in Attleboro Wednesday afternoon.

The driver, Donald Gobern, told ABC6 News he pulled over when he saw the crash and rushed to a woman who was trapped in one of the two cars.

The car tipped over on its side over in the woods.

Gobern says luckily he had his box-cutting knife in his pocket and used it to free the woman who was being strangled by her seatbelt.

He says she was in bad shape, turning blue by the time he arrived.

“The way the car was rolled to the side the seatbelt was here and she was up against the door she couldn’t move because of the weight of the vehicle. I cut the seatbelt and once another gentleman came he held the door so we could pull her out,” said Gobern.

Gobern says luckily a doctor also pulled over to assist.

The accident happened near Exit 5 around 3 p.m.

That woman was taken to the hospital and there is no word on the extent of her injuries.
