FEMA Disaster Survivor Assistance Crews meeting residents in Rhode Island

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Federal Emergency Management Agency said that Disaster Survivor Assistance crews are going door-to-door to help Rhode Islanders register for disaster assistance after the latest bought of severe weather.

FEMA said the crews are visiting homes, schools, nonprofits, and communities with limited access and are also meeting with local officials and community leaders to discuss disaster-related issues.

“DSA crews never ask for a fee or accept money for disaster assistance or help filling out applications,” the agency said “DSA crews wear a FEMA identification badge with a photograph – a FEMA shirt, vest or jacket is not proof of identity.”

FEMA added that people affected by severe weather in Providence County can register for assistance online or over the phone at 1-800-621-3362.
