Female pepper sprays officer, charged with assault and battery

DARTMOUTH, M.A. (WLNE) — A woman being detained as part of a shoplifting investigation faces an assault and battery charge for spraying a loss prevention officer in the face with pepper spray.

Police say officers responded to a local Macy’s for two females involved in a disagreement with a male loss prevention employee around 1:15 p.m., on Monday.

Upon arrival, officers determined 29-year-old Ruby Mena, of Providence, R.I.,sprayed a loss prevention officer in the face with pepper spray.

Mena was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
