BOSTON (WLNE) — A sustainability project is growing on the roof of the iconic Fenway Park.

Starting back in 2015, Fenway Farms aids in making the stadium more sustainable.

Officials said over 5,900 pounds of produce are harvested each growing season.

Fresh produce is then a short trip downstairs to the team’s chef and concessions around the stadium.

The project has estimated to cut down on the need for purchased produce by 20%.

Extra produce gets donated to local distribution organizations.
