Festival Ballet Providence announces casting call for Nutcracker dog

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Do you think your pet has what it takes to be this year’s Nutcracker dog?
Festival Ballet Providence (FBP) announced the 2019 auditions for the Nutcracker dog for its upcoming performance at PPAC.
FBP is looking to cast two dogs to take on the role as the Nutcracker dog.
The role was previously held by ‘Archie’ who was the company’s beloved Yorkshire Terrier who spent 19 years with them.
The company said Archie passed away peacefully this past summer and, in his memory, the role of The Nutcracker Dog will be named “Archie.”
The audition is on Nov. 24, at FBP’s studio located at 825 Hope Street, Providence from 12 p.m.-2 p.m..
The casting call is open to all dog breeds, sizes, and ages. Owners must arrive with dogs leashed and ready to perform. Auditioning dogs will be asked to traverse the grand studio at FBP without guidance to meet their owners on the other side.
The auditioning criteria is simple: Does your pup have an elegant prance? A regal coat of fur? A charming smile? Can he or she handle the paparazzi?
Pre-registration is not required. Participation is free and open to any and all applicants. Participants can drop in to register on the day of auditions. All participants will receive a discount code for tickets to see FBP’s The Nutcracker.
The Nutcracker will take place Dec. 13-15 at PPAC.
