A fifth person has been indicted in the death and dismemberment of Kerry Mello.

62-year-old Louis Geremia of Warwick was indicted in connection with the death back in August of 2015. He was arrested Wednesday and charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and mutilation of a dead human body.

Geremia was held without bail after his arraignment.

Mello, 36, of Cranston, was last seen on August 10, 2015. Nine days later, his body parts washed up on the shore in Westport and later in Little Compton.

Four others have already been indicted in connection to the death: Jamie Barriera, 35, of Warwick; Francisco Concepcion, 36, of Warwick; Albert Barriera, 61, of Warwick (Jamie Barriera’s father); and Graig Bustillo, 39, of Providence. They are all being held without bail.

Investigation revealed that Jamie Barriera was involved in growing marijuana and at some point in the summer of 2015 a large amount of marijuana and money was stolen from him. Mello, an associate of his, was suspected by him to have been the culprit. Barriera, according to police, lured Mello to Albert Barriera’s home where he was killed and dismembered, his body thrown into the sea.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
