Final travelers arrive at TF Green for holiday

With a little bit of Christmas Eve snow, last-minute travelers headed to Rhode Island didn’t seem to have too many problems getting home just in time for the holiday.

Despite the stress of busy holiday travelers, the arrival terminal at TF Green airport was filled with joy, as loved ones were reunited for Christmas.

Newport native Alixandra Bouchard has not been home for four years, but was lucky enough to catch a Christmas Eve flight out of her new California home to be with family Christmas morning.

“I’m definitely a little nervous but for the most part it’s pretty exciting to see what’s changed,” she said. “Nice chunk of time I’ll be home.”

But it wasn’t exactly smooth sailing for Bouchard and the millions of other travelers trying to get home this season.

“There were quite a bit of travelers, actually,” she said. “Both of my flights were totally packed.”

Another Southern New England native is Andrew Kiehling who is also home visiting family for Christmas. He said it was pretty hectic getting out of Los Angeles to travel across the country.

“In LA it was pretty crazy,” Kiehling said. “But I landed in Philadelphia it wasn’t too bad. Then, yea, landing in Providence is so nice.”

According to AAA more people will be flying this holiday season than in the last 15 years.
