PAWTUCKET, R.I. – Firefighters from Pawtucket and Central Falls battled a stubborn fire on Tuesday afternoon.

Pawtucket Battalion Chief Joseph Murray said initially firefighters responded to 63 Campbell Terrace just after 4 p.m. for flames reported on the third floor of the single-family dwelling.

Crews were forced to retreat from the blazing house after it became clear that the fire was also in the basement.

The firefighters were able to resume their attack and eventually extinguished the fire.

One firefighter suffered a minor shoulder injury.

The house sustained heavy structural damage.
