Firefighter is recovering after being injured in fire

A Providence firefighter is recovering after receiving minor burns during an overnight fire.

According to fire officials, the fire broke slightly after midnight on a second floor of a home on Fairfield Avenue. No one was home when the fire started.

The firefighter was taken to the hospital to be treated for second degree burns on his neck and back.

He has been sent home from the hospital.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
