Firefighters battle ‘20-foot-high’ flames on warehouse roof in Norton

NORTON, Mass. (WLNE) — Firefighters had quite the task on their hands at an auto part warehouse in Norton on Monday.

Norton Fire Chief Shawn Simmons said one person was hospitalized in a fire around 4 p.m. at an Autoparts International building on Mansfield Avenue.

Simmons said crews arrived to find 20-foot-high flames coming from the roof and immediately evacuated the building.

The fire was centered around a large area of solar panels on the roof of the building, according to Simmons.

Firefighters called for backup and were able to get the blaze under control around 5 p.m.

One person was taken to the hospital for minor smoke inhalation, according to Simmons.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
