Firefighters battle house fire in Attleboro

ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE) — The Attleboro Fire Department said firefighters battled a house fire Tuesday afternoon.
Crews responded to Fairway Drive around 3:30 p.m. for a reported structure fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters reported seeing smoke coming from a two-story home.
Officials said the fire started in the garage and extended to the attack, which made it difficult to “access and extinguish,” according to the department.
Firefighters were able to control the fire within about 30 minutes.
Crews had to cut a hole in the roof to ventilate the home due to the intense heat and spoke conditions.
Nobody was injured.
The department added that the firefightersd had to handle the heat from the fire and the outside temperatures.
“Fighting fire is always demanding, but extreme weather like today’s makes it even more dangerous,” Attleboro Fire Assistant Chief Dennis Perkins said. “Our crews pushed through brutal heat in full gear to stop this fire from spreading further. It’s a testament to their training and dedication to protecting this community.”
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
