Firefighters battle house fire in Little Compton

LITTLE COMPTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Firefighters battled a house fire in Little Compton Monday morning.

According to the Little Compton Fire Department, firefighters responded to the home to find fire in the basement.

Crews were able to contain the flames to the basement.

Officials said the upstairs of the home suffered heat and smoke damage, but did not have fire damage.

Extra crews were called to the scene due to the humidity and lack of hydrants in the town.

The two people inside the home were able to get out before firefighters responded.

Nobody was injured.
