Firefighters battle Tiverton house fire

TIVERTON, R.I. (WLNE)- The Tiverton Fire Department were called to battle a fire inside a house on Cherry Lane.

Tiverton fire confirmed they received the initial call at 3:15 p.m for a fire on a house on Cherry Lane.

Crews arrived finding heavy fire on the first floor, extending to the attic of the house. They tackled the fire with help from mutual aid from from Fall River, Westport, Portsmouth and Middletown, and were able to stop the fire.

Two dogs died as a result of the fire.

At this time the cause of fire is unknown but is under investigation.
