First day of filming for M. Night Shyamalan movie ‘Remain’ in Rhode Island
WARREN, R.I. (WLNE) — The first day of filming began in Rhode Island Wednesday for an upcoming movie starring Jake Gyllenhaal.
“Remain,” directed by M. Night Shyamalan, will be filmed in the Ocean State this summer.
The crew spent Wednesday morning and afternoon filming inside The Coffee Depot on Main Street.
The shop and Jefferson Street were closed for hours for safety reasons, but the co-owner said they are thrilled to have been picked for the film.
“They came in and they finished their setup, we had our food, our coffee, they brought in some furniture and some lighting, a lot of lighting, and plants, and pretty much they used most of the furniture that we have in the depot, switched a few things out but not a lot,” The Coffee Depot co-owner Steve Lake said. “Great exposure, again, for us, we’ve been here for a long time, we always like to see new faces, and hopefuly this will accomplish that for us.”
ABC6 News crews on scene saw the extras in the armory in Warren, and a police presence on Main Street.
The crew is set to film in Bristol later in the day to shoot evening scenes.
Local location manager Two Beacons Productions is putting on the production in Warren and Bristol.
More filming will take place in late June and early July on private property in Warren.
