Five firefighters taken to hospital, family displaced by Pawtucket blaze

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — Five firefighters were taken to the hospital after a blaze in Pawtucket.
Fire Chief John Trenteseaux said emergency crews responded to a fire at a multi-family home on East Avenue just before 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Trenteseaux said firefighters put out a mayday call when one crew member ran out of oxygen on the third floor and was forced to escape hanging from a window.
The firefighter was rescued and taken to the hospital, later joined by four other crew members suffering from heat exhaustion.
Trenteseaux said all five men are expected to recover.
The Red Cross is helping a family of 13 displaced by the fire, according to Trenteseaux, who noted that the building is uninhabitable at this time.
