WAKEFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) – A driver injured four people, one of them seriously, when he drove into them outside Matunuck Oyster Bar Friday evening.

“I have never seen anything like this in my life,” said witness Alison Trainor Cello.

According to South Kingstown Police, an elderly driver, who appeared confused coming into the parking lot, panicked and drove into five people, seriously injuring one woman.

Witnesses tell ABC 6 that woman hit her head on the windshield.

“Her neck was on top of the cobble stone and she wasn’t moving,” said Trainor Cello.

People ran inside the restaurant, calling out for anyone who could help. Lesley Warhurst answered the call.

“I just kind of got up out of instinct and came out to the parking lot,” said Warhurst.

Warhurst is a nurse at Beth Israel in Boston.

She says from what she could tell, the woman had hurt her shoulder and face, and had scrapes all over her body.

“She could obviously speak, and she had a pulse, and she knew where she was but she was very shooken up.”

It was just by chance that Warhurst was there. She says she was at the Oyster Bar to kick off her holiday weekend.

But being in the right place at the right time, she worked to make sure the woman was stabilized until the ambulance arrived.

“Hopefully she’ll be doing fine and she’ll be recovering quick,” said Warhurst.

Police are still investigating the crash.
