Five people taken to hospital after fiery crash in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Five people were taken to the hospital after a 7-car crash on I-95 on Thursday afternoon.

The collision happened on I-95 South just before the Atwells exit, according to Providence Deputy Assistant Fire Chief Brian Mahoney.

None of the five people suffered from any life-threatening injuries.

Deputy Chief Mahoney said one of the gas tanks ruptured, causing one of the cars to catch on fire.

The accident is currently under investigation.
