Flags to fly at half-staff to commemorate Memorial Day

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Gov. Dan McKee is directing all U.S. and Rhode Island flags at state agencies and buildings to be flown at half-staff Monday to commemorate Memorial Day.
He is also asking all Rhode Islanders to lower their flags to half-staff at the same time.
“On Memorial Day, it is imperative for us as Rhode Islanders to stand together in appreciation for the dedication and sacrifice of the brave service members who defended our nation and protected our freedoms,” McKee said.
The flags will be flown this way from sunrise to 12 p.m., and will return to full-staff at noon.
“Let us ensure their sacrifices were not in vain, and never take them, or their service to our nation, for granted,” he added.
