Food truck holds fundraiser for church targeted by fires

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — D’s BBQ and Smokehouse food truck held a fundraiser over the weekend to raise money for a local church that was the target of several fires.
Shiloh Gospel Temple, a historically black church, was the victim of a man who allegedly set fires outside the building.
The food truck sold dinner plates to help the congregation raise money for the damages sustained from the fires.
“Me and my team decided to come out and try to bring the community out to help with the repairs,” Owner Dwayne Tisdale said. “Although the church is insured it’s going to be months before they are able to receive any money on that and there’s some upgrades and water damage, smoke damage that needs to be corrected.”
Half the proceeds from each dinner will go towards the church, while other donations were also accepted.
Tisdale said the event raised over $1,500 for the church.
The fundraiser lasted until the food truck ran out meals.
