Foot chase leads to stolen gun arrest in Providence, police say

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A foot chase in Providence led to a stolen gun arrest early Wednesday morning.
Rhode Island State Police said troopers attempted to stop a car that was speeding on just before 3 a.m., before the driver got out of the car and fled.
Mekhi Roderique, 18, was arrested and charged for license or permit required for carrying a pistol, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a crime of violence and obstruction of an officer in execution of duty.
The gun was stolen out of New Hampshire last year, according to state police.
Roderique was arraigned Wednesday morning.
