WARREN, R.I. (WLNE) — The Herren Project held its first Bowl-A-Thon Fundraiser on Saturday.

The 12-hour fundraiser at Dudek Bowling Lanes in Warren aimed to raise money to assist those struggling with addiction.

The Herren Project was started by former Boston Celtics player Chris Herren to support those going through substance abuse disorders.

Herren’s brother Mike organized the fundraiser and said the idea of the Bowl-A-Thon comes from people not being able to run in the usual race fundraisers the organization takes part in.

“Its been an amazing success so far,” he said. “It’s about the success stories of the Herren Project.”
