PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A former Boy Scouts leader indicted for sexual assault against a child has a court hearing on Thursday.

The Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office said 61-year-old Michael Chalk faces two counts of first-degree sexual assault.

The alleged assaults happened when Chalk was an adult leader for a Boy Scout troop in Central Falls between 1982 and 1984. The victim was a boy who was 13 or younger.

Prosecutors further alleged that the assaults occurred at St. Matthew’s Church, where the troop held their meetings.

Chalk was convicted of first-degree child molestation and sexual assault against three minor male victims in 1999. He was sentenced to serve 20 years at the ACI followed by a 20-year suspended sentence.

The victims in that case were also boy scouts.
