A former correctional officer at WyattDetentionCenter in Central Falls has been sentenced for accepting money from an inmate’s family to deliver contraband on Thursday.
Scott William Allen Denton, 32, of Warwick was sentenced to three years probation and was ordered to perform 300 hours of community service at the U.S. District Court in Providence after pleading guilty to one count of bribery by a public official.
Denton pleaded guilty on March 6th and admitted he agreed to accept $500 in cash to deliver pills and pornography to an inmate.
Denton said he delivered the items after the inmate’s wife deposited $200 into his bank account on March 7, 2013 and a $300 cash deposit on May 17, 2013.
