WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Friday morning, a former Coventry town councilor is due in court, as he faces a felony charge of threatening a fellow public official.

Earlier this month, a grand jury indicted Scott Copley for allegedly threatening town council president Hillary Lima.

Copley was one of two Coventry town councilors to abruptly resign back in April in protest of how town officials were handling legal invoices.

At the time, the town solicitor reported Copley to police after the council vice president told him Copley made a graphic, sexual threat about Lima during a phone call.

Copley will be arraigned in Kent County Court at 9:30 Friday morning.
