Former Cranston city councilor to appear in court on drug charges

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Former Cranston city councilor Matt Reilly is expected in court today on charges of possessing less than 10 grams of a controlled substance.

Reilly was arraigned on January 25, where he pleaded not guilty.

Ahead of the January arraignment, Reilly was being held at the ACI since early December due to a bail violation.

Reilly is expected in court today for a pre-trial conference.

These recent charges are in addition to his previous arrest after Cranston police body cameras recorded him semi-conscious in his car with a glass pipe and a lighter in his hand.
